What is OZEV?

OZEV, formerly known as OLEV, stands for The Office for Zero Emission Vehicles.

It's a cross-governmental team that works towards promoting the transition to zero emission vehicles (ZEVs).

It offers assistance to encourage the adoption of plug-in vehicles and provides funding for chargepoint infrastructure development throughout the UK.

The OZEV's efforts are aimed at boosting economic growth, whilst reducing greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution on the roads.

It operates under the Departments for Transport (DfT) and Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).

OZEV Grants

The Office for Zero-Emission Vehicles (OZEV) recognised that most EV owners prefer to charge their vehicles at home.

As a result, they’ve introduced grants to help reduce the upfront cost of installing a EV charging point at home.

This initiative aims to make the transition to electric vehicles more accessible and cost-effective for consumers.

The grant offered by OZEV can cover up to 75% of the installation costs for EV smart charge points throughout the UK.

It’s important to note that this grant replaced the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS) on April 1st, 2022.

Eligible individuals can take advantage of this opportunity to make the switch to eco-friendly transportation.

Qualifying for a Grant

To be eligible for the OZEV grant, you will need the following:

What Vehicles are Eligible?

The grant is not available for all types of plug-in vehicles.

While all fully battery-electric vehicles are eligible, plug-in hybrid vehicles must have CO2 emissions calculated to be below 50g/km to qualify.

Each eligible vehicle that you own or lease can be used to claim the OZEV grant.

Additionally, you can claim up to two charging points per household.

You can see a complete list of OZEV eligible vehicles online.

Do Commercial Locations Qualify for Grants?

Yes, commercial locations are also covered by the OZEV grant.

The Workplace Charging Scheme provides businesses and charities of all sizes with £350 per electric vehicle charging station installed.

How to Apply

There’s no need to apply for the grant, as it will be taken care of by the Office for Zero-Emission Vehicles (OZEV).

All that’s required is the necessary documentation proving the ownership or lease of the vehicle in question.

Are There Any Upfront Costs?

The upfront cost will only be for the charging unit you opt to install.
